Way before Vanilla Ice, and way way before Eminem there was D.J. Flash. Flash was the first white rapper to be signed to a record deal with The Rappers Rapp Group. The group was put together by Duffy Hooks in 1981. He put out a call for auditions to form a rap super group. It always reminds me of Malcolm Mclaren putting together or "making" a punk group. The members of the crew ending up being King MC, Lovin' C, MC Fosty, Macker Moe, Mr. Ice and of course D.J. Flash. The track below is a synthy vocoder jam that D.J. Flash put out in 1984 on Premo Records. As you can see on the 45 I have the track is titled "D.J. Flash" which was a mistake since the track is titled "I Have A Dream". You can head here to see the various releases of this single. This piece of wax is definitely one of the cherished gems in my personal collection. I Have A Dream (Vocal)I Have A Dream (Instrumental)
